81% 21 Reviews Tomatometer 70% 100+ Ratings Audience Score A spinoff of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine" is set on a space station near the planet Bajor. This time, Commander Benjamin Sisko is in charge of a diverse crew. But unlike other "Star Trek" series, there's no USS Enterprise to help them. Audience Member Why does my captain hate his job? Why is this space station full of garbage? Why is everyone so cynical!Picard! Save us!This was a challenge to watch after TNG, but it is a remarkable feat they pulled off. Equally as important as TNG, but less rewatchable because it can get pretty dour. Still, this is 10/10 Star Trek regardless. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Jemimah B Deep Space 9 opens with an excellent pilot that effectively introduces the characters and context setting up for an engaging first season filled with both humour and depth that sets it apart from the Star Trek that came before. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/20/23 Full Review James B I've tried very hard to like this series since I'm a die hard fan of the first two installments, but have never warmed up to it. There are lengthy dialogues that take place in very ordinary settings. The whole show feels more like series of low budget plays and has a claustrophobic atmosphere about it. One also gets the feeling that the writers are trying to make science and religion compatible, which is quite absurd. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/17/23 Full Review Simon T After watching this show for at least the tenth time, I just created this account to say that it's really worth watching, especially with our modern geopolitical situation. The stories are well crafted and the characters really really well written. This is a masterpiece and I will never tired to watch it again. I wish there were more than 7 seasons... Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/23 Full Review Louis F Every episode takes a thin storyline and stretches it out until it‘s hardly noticeable. The result is orchestrated boredom. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This show takes a while to warmup. The first season is a bit slow and uneven, but it is worth the investment for the later seasons. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Scott Williams Associated Press Ok it's true that "Deep Space Nine" does not boldly go anywhere. But it most boldly stays, and it might be the best Trek yet. Mar 5, 2021 Full Review Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) David Bianculli Philadelphia Inquirer On a scale of 1 to 10, this new Star Trek spinoff earns a Deep Space Nine. Mar 5, 2021 Full Review Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Hal Boedeker Miami Herald Like its forerunners, the series offers a morality play every bit as gripping as the hardware and special effects. Dialogue about wormholes and phasers might turn off non-Trekkers, but the series makes its essential points in the simplest terms. Mar 5, 2021 Full Review Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Jeffrey Rubinc South Florida Sun-Sentinel I'm happy about what I've seen of Sisko and crew. So far. This trek may take liberties with the legend, but at its heart, it appears to be the same wise old friend I've known all my life. Mar 4, 2021 Full Review Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Jim Vorel Paste Magazine It was never quite as popular as Next Generation, but that was a tough assignment to follow. May 22, 2018 Full Review Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Brian Chapman What Culture Emissary is the best Star Trek pilot when considered in hindsight, but because some crossover episodes are of such high quality that it pushes this one down to the worst list. A shame really, because I'm sure this would appear in many people's top 20. Oct 23, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
