Men's Track and Field
Eight athletes will run on May 22-25 in Lexington, Ky.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track And Field East Preliminary competitions are scheduled for May 22-25 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. The Providence College men's and women's track teams will have nine athletes (two men, seven women) who qualified for the First Round competing in Lexington, Ky.
The runners competing at the NCAA First Round will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Finals which will be held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.

This season, Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) won the 5,000 meters at the UCF Invitational in a time of 13:46.37. Laadjel then placed 22nd in the 10,000 meters with a time of 28:56.34 at the Raleigh Relays. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championship, he placed fifth in the 10,000 meters in a time of 29:34.26.
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) won the 1,500 meters at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 4:08.84 and won the 3,000 meters (9:09.35) at the Friar Invitational. She finished runner-up in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:11.20 and was a member of the 4x800-meter relay team that claimed first in a time of 8:33.43 at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) placed second in the 1,500 meters at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 4:09.84, followed by a first-place win in the 800 meters (2:03.46) at the Friar Invitational. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, May claimed the 5,000-meter title in a BIG EAST Record time of 15:26.50 and was a member of the 4x800-meter relay team that claimed first in a time of 8:33.43.
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) finished second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:21.46 at the UCF Invitational, followed by an eighth-place finish in a time of 4:16.72 at the Penn Relays. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, Laverty ran a 4:19.08 to finish fifth in the 1,500 meters and was a member of the 4x800-meter relay team that claimed first in a time of 8:33.43.
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) won the 800 meters in 2:05.95 at the UCF Invitational, followed by a 14th-place finish in the 800 meters with a 2:05.78 time at the Raleigh Relays. O'Neill ran a 2:04.87 in the 800 meters to finish third at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship.
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) started the outdoor season with a third-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.07 at the UCF Invitational. She then ran a 2:06.04 to place 16th in the 800 meters at the Raleigh Relays. O'Neill finished third in the 400 meters at the Friar Invitational with a time of 57.67.
Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) won the 5,000 meters at the UCF Invitational in 16:22.86, followed by a 33:00.20 time to finish 11th in the 10,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, Mooney finished runner-up in the 10,000 meters with a 33:16.87 time.
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) finished 18th with a time of 33:18.51 in the 10,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays. Tuck finished fourth (15:53.76) in the 5,000 meters at the Penn Relays and most recently ran a 16:36.92 to place sixth in the 5,000 meters at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship.
At the beginning of the season, Pat Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) won the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 5:35.30 at the UCF Invitational. Thygesen placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:37.32 at the Penn Relays. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship, Thygesen claimed the 3,000-meter steeplechase title in a time of 8:50.07.
